Crossfit East Sacramento<\/a> has a lot of really, really talented\u00a0athletes. \u00a0Young, old, big and small. \u00a0But certain ones catch my attention. \u00a0There are a couple of young guys, JS and BB in particular. \u00a0And a couple of young women, AL and LB. \u00a0All four of them typically perform well; they\u00a0exhibit\u00a0tremendous discipline and resolve. \u00a0They also, at least in the gym, seem to have even temperaments. \u00a0A marvelous discipline, that.<\/p>\n

It does not bother me that they outperform me. \u00a0I confess I am concerned that the difference is so big. \u00a0So I need to improve. \u00a0It occurs to me from time-to-time that they are younger, and have an advantage. \u00a0Maybe. But I think I can close the gap. \u00a0However that isn’t the point here.<\/p>\n

I am not in the business of predicting the future. \u00a0That’s beyond my (current) talents. \u00a0But I can offer up a prediction, a potential.<\/p>\n

One day, a very mundane and typical day, full of distractions, and\u00a0commonness, a day when the regularity of life has shaped\u00a0expectations\u00a0into a familiar\u00a0rhythm, you will encounter\u00a0someone like you are today. \u00a0Perhaps 20 years from now, or thirty. \u00a0It will be totally unexpected. \u00a0They will be young and strong, striving to master life. \u00a0And for a moment, or an hour, or if you’re lucky a few days, you will see life through their eyes. \u00a0You will see yourself in them, and you will be amazed.<\/p>\n

I envy you that moment (but in a good way!) Cheers.<\/p>\n
